Class 6

Welcome to Class 6. My name is Miss Gossington and I am the class teacher within Class 6. Our Year 2 teaching assistants are Mrs Smith, Mrs O'Hare and Mrs Shepherd. I also work closely with Miss Greasley and Mrs Bloom in Class 5.

This half term our topic is Fire Fire! This is a history focused topic where we will be learning all about 'The Great Fire of London'.  We will also learn about fire safety.  Check out our brilliant beginnings letter and our topic web to see all the things we have planned!

What a great way to end the Spring term with a visit from the Easter 🐣 bunny 🐰 We sang a song and very kindly they left us some chocolate eggs. Yummy 😋

Spring 2 2023

This half term our topic is 'Up, Up and Away!'  It is a history focused topic where we will be learning about some significant people and the impact they have had on the lives we live today.  We will learn about Neil Armstrong, The Wright Brothers and Amelia Earhart.  Have a look at our topic web below to see all the different things we have planned!

Spring 1 2023

This half term our topic is 'Around the World'.  It is a Geography based topic where we learn about the continents of the world and the different landscapes, climate and cultures you can find in different places.  Check out our brilliant beginnings letter and topic web below!

In Autumn 2 our topic is 'Food Glorious Food!'.  This is a Science based topic where we will be learning all about healthy eating, the importance of balanced diet and the different food groups.  We will also be thinking a lot about how to keep our minds and bodies healthy and the importance of exercise.  Have a look at our topic web and brilliant beginnings letter below to see some of the things we will be getting up to!

To end our topic Land Ahoy we came to school today dressed as pirates 🏴‍☠️ We went aboard Captain Bloom’s ship and had to follow orders such as scrub the deck. Captain Bloom then taught us a pirate song to sing and have a jig too. We designed our own pirate flags. In the afternoon Captain Gossington taught us a pirate dance and we learnt about the famous pirate Captain Blackbeard.

This half term our topic is 'Land Ahoy!' It is a Geography based topic where we will be learning all about the oceans of the world and where they are.  We will be pretending to be pirates to create and follow maps to hunt down our treasure!  Have a look at our topic web below to see all the exciting things we have planned!
