Class 4

Hello and welcome to our class page!

Class 4 is a team of 30 explorers, two teaching assistants, Mrs Shepherd and Mrs Knapcyzk, and two teachers, Mrs Southall who is with us on a Monday and Tuesday and Miss Moretto who is with us on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We also work closely with the rest of the Year 1 team who are in Class 3 with Miss Gossington and Miss Zullo.

The children have settled in really well and have made a great start to the year ahead. Every morning we do phonics, literacy, numeracy and handwriting. In the afternoons we work on our topics in history, geography, science, computing, art and PE.

We are really excited about the term ahead and we are sure that we are going to have lots of fun and enjoyment in our learning this year!

Please keep checking this page as this is where we will be keeping you up to date with our learning though photographs, work and newsletters.

Robin Hood

Today Part Take came to teach class 4 about the legend of Robin Hood. We really enjoyed dressing up and being in character as we walked through the story. There were lots of highlights like the soldiers collecting taxes, meeting Little John and, of course, when Robin Hood and Maid Marion got married. Here are some photos of our adventure.

Walk around our local area

During Culture week we learnt about Poland. We learned a Polish dance, made Polish cakes called Rogaliki, tasted Polish foods before voting for our favourite and drawing a bar chart.
We tasted some Polish food such as peirogi, Polish sausage called kabanos and plum dumplings. We then voted which we liked the best and put the information into a bar chart. Take a look at our photographs below.

Polish Food Tasting

In science we have been learning about the changes in seasons. We went for a walk around the school garden finding signs of Autumn and Winter.

In PE we have been learning to balance during gymnastics.

We have been learning about Florence Nightingale. A nurse came into class to talk to us about her job. We were able to compare nursing now to when Florence Nightingale was alive.

During Book Week we enjoyed reading with parents and children in other classes during our Book Picnic.

On Shrove Tuesday we made and ate pancakes!
