Our Music Learning
At Phoenix, we believe that music is an essential part of everyday life. It gives our children a powerful voice to express themselves, their emotions, and their unique ideas. We strive to foster a lifelong love of music by exposing children to a rich variety of genres and musical styles.
Music Progression
- Early Years Foundation Stage: Children explore a vibrant world of sound through continuous provision. They are given hands-on opportunities to experiment with different instruments, explore various genres, and discover early musical techniques.
- Key Stage 1: Pupils build on these foundations with a dedicated, high-quality weekly music lesson, currently taught by a specialist teacher.

Performances
We want our children to become confident, expressive performers who love sharing their talents. To nurture this, we offer a range of performance opportunities for the children throughout their time at Phoenix.
- Nursery: Our youngest performers take their first steps on stage with a festive Christmas singalong.
- Foundation 2 & Key Stage 1: Children shine in traditional, energetic Nativity performances.
- Year 2: Our oldest children celebrate their primary journey with a special End of Year Assembly.
Extra - Curricular Activities
We offer extra-curricular clubs, including Choir and Recorder Club. In addition to this, we also host Rock Steady lessons in which children are able to play in their very own Rock Band! These groups regularly showcase their hard work at various events throughout the school calendar, proudly performing both in school and out within our local community.

We offer a wide range of music and performance opportunities through our Opal Play provision at lunchtime.

We are also delighted to invite external performers into Phoenix to widen the children's theatrical experiences, including our yearly Pantomime!
