Music

Here at Phoenix we believe that every child is an artist. We use the arts through all subjects as well as teaching them on their own. We really enjoy these subjects and truly think that the arts can develop growth mindset and happy engaged learners.

Take a look at all the things happening in school in this subject right now...

Here is the policy for The Arts which includes music and what a Phoenix musician looks like.

Class 6 were learning to play a well known tune today on the xylophones. We were given the notes to play then had to guess. We could soon hear that we were playing Twinkle Twinkle little star. We worked well with our partners and took it in turns.

The Nursery music station is coming along nicely.

In music today class 6 were learning to play the xylophone. We were working on playing a simple tune using the letters. We had a great first attempt and will be working on this again to get even better.

Class 5 had their turn at exploring the different instruments today. We were very good at playing, dancing and clapping along to the beat! We listened to songs with different rhythms and talked about how they were different and how they made us feel.

Today in class 6 we had our first music lesson this summer term. We worked on stopping and starting , turn taking with our partner and playing high and low notes along to a piece of music by The Foundations. A very popular song called Build me up Buttercup. We had great fun and it was great to play the instruments. 🥁 ğŸŽ¹ iğŸŽº

Summer term is exciting for music in nursery. We have our music wall outside but now we have a music area inside all the time!! We are loving it! We will be doing short music session too this half term to learn how to start and stopand playing together.

Nursery children first session of learning to stop and play on a signal went every well! Well done team nursery.

In nursery this term (spring) we have enjoyed taking our music outside! We looked at different instruments and the sound they make, we even tried making a marching band that went over out climbing equipment.

In music this week year 2 took part in some body percussion. Take a look at us in action. We performed this along to a song all about the seasons of the year.

In F2 we have been exploring the instruments and playing along with music from different cultures. We especially loved creating beats to the Jamaican music

Though we cant sing like we used to that doesn't mean we don't enjoy music and some music just needs to dance too.

We have been reading lots of books by our class author, Jill Murphy in nursery. In one of the stories about The Large Family, Lester (one of their children) was playing his recorder to his mum in the bath. We decided to experiment with different instruments, playing them loudly and quietly. We really listened to what they sounded like and decided which Mrs Large might want to listen to in the bath.
