Here at Phoenix Infant and Nursery School, assessment in Mathematics is ongoing and we are constantly monitoring how children are progressing in each element of the curriculum. Teachers are informally assessing children's learning on a daily basis to ensure that next steps are ready to be delivered and followed, whilst also identifying any need for intervention if a child's learning is not yet secure.
Formal assessment in Mathematics take place on a termly basis and we assess the children's fluency skills and their ability to solve problems and reason.
The White Rose Maths scheme also provides short assessments at the end of each block to show how secure children are in each area and to also identify any gaps that will then need intervention before moving on.
The attached documents show examples of the end of block and the end of term assessments.
