Art

Here at Phoenix we believe that every child is an artist. We use the arts through all subjects as well as teaching them on their own. We really enjoy these subjects and truly think that the arts can develop growth mindset and happy engaged learners.

Take a look at all the things happening in school in this subject right now...

Here is the policy for The Arts which includes art and what a Phoenix artist looks like.

F1 spring 2...we made flowers out of spare parts to go with our growing topic.

In Spring 1 in F2 the children have explored Pop Art and created some ot their own as part of our Super Hero theme.

In spring 1 in nursery we have been all about the paint! Mixing it, using it in different ways and controlling our paint brush. As always we also have had art resources in our classroom for free choice and the children have been loving drawing as well as painting.

In Year 1 this half term (spring 1) we have linked our Art work to our Science topic, plants. We have used natural materials to create winter scenes and collage techniques to make a colourful flower.

Year 2 have been looking at the story of 'Bog Baby' by Jeanne Willis. We made our own bog babies from clay and then made a habitat for them, we are so impressed with how well they have turned out!

Class 6 very focused creating their own LS Lowry pictures.

In F1 we love doing big group art projects. This week we have created a train using different techniques.

Class 5 have been painting their own versions of then painting 'Going to work' by LS Lowry today.  They have made a fantastic start! Take a look!

In F2 we love creating. The children have been creating their own individual pieces of art as well as creating stars and using mix media to create poppy fields.

Class 3 have been learning about Diwali and why it is celebrated. We used clay to make diva lamps and decorated them.

Class 6 started to look at the paintings and work of L S Lowry this week. We also found out lots of facts about him too. Take a look at us in action.

Class 4 have been making patterns with different seeds linked to seasonal changes and Autumn.

Class 5 and 6 have been learning all about the story A River by Marc Martin. It is a beautifully illustrated book and we recreated the front cover. Take a look at us in action.

In Year 2 we have been learning all about the artist Huntertwasser. He likes to use bright colours in his paintings and no straight lines. Take a look at us busy creating pictures just like his.

In nursery we love all the different elements of art. We have been focusing on painting and drawing lately. The children can access the paints whenever they wish and they have drawn a self portrait also.
